Why does my child learn to float before he learns to swim?

Floating on your back is one of the most urgent and important skills: starfish on your back is THE safety position par excellence!

In the event of a fall into the water, a child who knows how to float on his or her back while doing the starfish is able to breathe and call for help.

As students progress, this skill is also needed if they tire while swimming. Some bodies of water (sea, lake…) have no edges or are difficult to access; floating on your back is the best way to stay safe, at any age.
