Cellulite affects around 90% of women, and it’s one of the main reasons they turn to aquabike. Good news: aquabike is one of the most effective activities for visibly reducing orange-peel skin. Here’s why, how often to do it, and what results you can realistically expect.
Why aquabike is effective against cellulite
Aquabike works on cellulite through three mechanisms at the same time:
Natural lymphatic drainage. Water applies constant pressure to the tissues while you pedal. This natural massage stimulates lymphatic circulation and helps the body eliminate toxins and fat stored under the skin.
Boosting blood circulation. The hydrostatic pressure of the water promotes venous return. Better blood flow means better oxygenation of the tissues and reduced water retention — two factors that worsen the appearance of cellulite.
Burning localized fat. Pedaling against resistance burns between 300 and 500 calories per session. This effort targets the thighs and glutes directly, the areas most affected by cellulite. To learn more about calorie burn, read our article on the benefits of aquabike.
Aquabike cellulite results: a realistic timeline
After 1 to 2 weeks (2 sessions/week)
No visible change in cellulite yet, but you’ll feel lighter legs and immediate comfort. The draining effect is noticeable from the very first session. It’s a sign your lymphatic circulation is already being stimulated.
After 3 to 4 weeks
The start of visible smoothing, especially on the thighs. Orange-peel skin begins to fade. If you do 3 sessions a week, results come faster. This is when most women start to see a difference in the mirror.
After 6 to 8 weeks
A significant reduction in cellulite. Thighs are visibly smoother and firmer. This is the stage where aquabike before-and-after results are the most impressive.
After 3 months and beyond
Results last as long as you keep up at least 2 sessions per week. Cellulite is clearly reduced, legs are toned, and your figure looks more defined.
How often should you do aquabike to reduce cellulite?
The minimum effective frequency is 2 sessions per week. At this pace, allow 6 to 8 weeks for visible results.
At 3 sessions per week, results come faster (4 to 6 weeks) and are more noticeable. Plan a rest day between sessions.
To speed up results even more, alternate aquabike and aquagym. Aquagym complements aquabike by working the upper body and adding overall muscle strengthening. At Swim Stars Beaugrenelle, both activities are available with the same membership.
Aquabike cellulite: tips to maximize results
Hydrate well. Water helps the body eliminate toxins mobilized by drainage. Drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day, and more on training days.
Adopt an anti-cellulite diet. Cut back on refined sugars, salt (which promotes water retention), and alcohol. Increase fruit, vegetables, and lean proteins.
Add self-massage. After your session, a massage with a draining oil extends aquabike’s effect on lymphatic circulation.
Be consistent. Cellulite doesn’t disappear in one session. Consistency is what makes the difference. Block out your time slots in advance so you don’t drop off.
Wear suitable clothing. A simple swimsuit is enough. At Swim Stars, all equipment is provided — bike, and water shoes if needed.
Aquabike or aquagym for cellulite?
Aquabike is more effective against cellulite than aquagym. Continuous pedaling creates a constant, draining massage targeted at the thighs and glutes. Aquagym also works thanks to water resistance, but in a less focused way.
The ideal combo: 2 aquabike sessions + 1 aquagym session per week. Check out our aquabike vs aquagym comparison to choose.

Aquabike cellulite FAQs
Does aquabike really get rid of cellulite?
Aquabike doesn’t make cellulite disappear 100%, but it visibly reduces it thanks to lymphatic drainage, improved circulation, and burning localized fat. Results are clear after 6 to 8 weeks of regular practice.
How many aquabike sessions to see an effect on cellulite?
Allow 8 to 16 sessions spread over 4 to 8 weeks, at a rate of 2 to 3 sessions per week.
Is aquabike more effective than running against cellulite?
Yes. Water adds a draining massage effect that running doesn’t provide. Plus, aquabike targets the thighs and glutes precisely.
Can you do aquabike every day to speed up results?
It’s not recommended. Plan at least one rest day between sessions for muscle recovery. Three sessions per week is the optimal pace.
